We are committed to teaching motorcycle riders safe and correct riding techniques - so you get full enjoyment from accident-free riding.

Description

We are NZTA-approved and certified - so we are approved to train and test for 'Basic Handling' certificates for Learner licence AND for CBTA - Restricted & Full licence. We are contracted to '2drivesafe' to deliver Ride Forever training courses here in Marlborough. When you train with us, we can help you to reach above the required NZTA standards.

We cover all aspects of rider instruction including:

  • basic motorcycle handling skills training and testing;
  • CBTA - training and assessments
  • Ride Forever Bronze Silver & Gold Training courses
  • refresher rides; (refresh your on road skills)
  • returning riders skills;
  • scooter riding lessons.

We can offer training on public roads or in our private training area.

Here are some examples of the training and services we offer here at Marlborough Motorcycle Riding School:

Basic Scooter Handling course

Basic handling skills for scooter riders to prepare you for riding on the road - first session is in our private training area, further 'on road' sessions by arrangement. Bring your own scooter.

Testing and Issuing Basic Motorcycle Handling Skills Certificate (for Learner Licence)

Full BMHS training course & testing to prepare you for your Learner Licence. Once you have reached the required NZTA standard, we can issue your 'Basic Handling Skills Certificate'. We even have LAMS approved bike you can hire.

CBTA Training and Assessment (for Restricted and Full licence)

We will help you meet the NZTA's standards so you can fast track your way through your Learner and Restricted Motorcycle Licence periods. We strongly recommend AT LEAST one training session with John before doing the assessment rides.

Ride Forever; Bronze Silver & Gold courses

We are now contracted to deliver these courses in Marlborough on a regular basis. Check our timetable for dates of upcoming courses

Returning Riders

Been a while since you've been on a motorbike? We provide refresher training for returning riders. Talk to us about getting back into riding and improve your riding confidence today!

Refresher Rides

Whether we ride a lot or a little,(motorbike or scooter), we all need to regularly review our riding habits to keep ourselves safe on the road. Our 2 hour individual 'Refresher Rides' are based on NZTA's CBTA Full Licence standards & incorporate elements of the IAM's Advanced Rider Programme. Every Rider should do this at least once. NB; Our 2hr Refresher rides cost $100 (gst incl.) but you can register for a $50 subsidy at; www.ridetolive.co.nz  prior to the ride and reduce the cost to $50. Our thanks go to 'Ride to Live' for this offer.

We provide individual training sessions - one to one 'on road' tuition - as well as a range of group training options. Contact us today to book the right training for you.

  • Sunday 25 February; 1.30pm - 4.30pm
  • Saturday 10 March; 8.30am - 11.30am. 1.30pm - 4.30pm
  • Sunday 18 March; 8.30am - 11.30am

  • NOTE; We can be flexible, if none of the above dates/times are suitable, contact us to make an alternative arrangement.

CBTA -Competency Based Training & Assessments 6R & 6F. The quickest way to getting your Full Licence. On road Training sessions and Assessments  BOOK IN NOW

  • Some weekend days/times are available
  • Any week day at 5.pm during summertime daylight saving hours
  • We now have a LAMS approved hire bike available for CBTA riders 

(We strongly recommend one or more training sessions AND/OR a Ride Forever course before attempting the assessment ride).

Ride Forever Courses; 8 hours training for  $20 - $50. NB; TO BOOK a course with John,  you must go to; www.2drivesafe.com and hit the 'BOOK NOW' button. You can also download a $50 training subsidy voucher from the 'Ride to Live' web-site - then these courses will be FREE!

Icy roads

Take great care out there over the next few days folks. Snow on the tops, rain yesterday and frost overnight can mean Black Ice - especially on bridges and shaded areas of road. You cant see it and it can be lethal. Keep your speed down and Ride carefully.
